The history of bullying has drastically changed; today, modern-day bullying is viewed differently and holds a different value and importance (Bullying 2). Bullying has been an issue for hundreds of years, but it is only since 1862 that bullying was first reported. Bullying is a critical issue that has only gotten worse over the years. Modern-day bullying compared to 18th century bullying was not as commonly seen and was not as detrimental. The way bullying has been viewed over the years has changed drastically, it started as verbal and physical bullying in schools, but today has transformed into a much more vicious thing. In 1862 a man, John Flood was a bully victim. â€Å"Flood had been the victim of ‘long, malignant and systematic bullying’† (â€Å"History of Bullying† n. pag).This first report of bullying, turned violent very quickly. In 1981 the first law against bullying was proposed. This law was then only thought about in the upcoming years. The law was made specifically for school bullying to spare the students the humiliation and sadness that would be felt by the kids. By the year 2000 a new kind of bullying was starting to become more frequent. But when the attacks moved online, he had no way to fight back, and no refuge. October 2003, Ryan hanged himself in his familys bathroom. He was 13 years old. Now, Ryans father travels to schools around the country to share the events that led up to his sons suicide and to warn educators and students about the dangers of cyber bullying. (â€Å"History of Bullying† n. pag). This is not the only example of what cyber bullying can lead to for the victims, this specific occurrence was only one of the first to happen. Other situations like Ryan’s are Gail Jones, Tyler Clementi, Megan Meier, Rehtaeh Parsons, Jamey Rodemeyer, Audrie Pott, Amanda Todd, and countless others (â€Å"Victims of cyber-bullying† n. pag). In 2006 the very first law opposing cyber bullying was passed. The law states, â€Å" it [is] a federal crime to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass another person over the internet† (â€Å"History of Bullying† n. pag). This law among many others is a way to show how the nation is trying to oppose bullying of any kind. Laws are not the only things being done to prevent bullying, but conferences and national days (National Day of Action Against Bullying Violence) have been put into action as well. â€Å"More than 1 out of 3 kids have been bullied online in 2012†. Whether the technology belongs to the student or the school, cyber bullying on campus is not allowed, and neither is cyber bullying off campus through means of self-owned or school-owned technology. Another key component to many anti-cyber bullying laws is the prohibition of â€Å"perpetuating bullying or harassing conduct by spreading hurtful or demeaning material even if the material was created by another person (e.g., forwarding offensive e-mails or text messages)† (â€Å"Key Components in State Anti-Bullying Laws†). In short, this idea states that it is illegal to spread degrading content, even in the case of chain letters or sharing received content with others. It is no more appropriate to act maliciously against someone online than to act maliciously against someone in person, and state governments are increasingly recognizing this cyber bullying issue and taking action against it. In a Senate vote, the bill passed with 100% approval and 0% opposition (thirty-seven people for the bill and zero against it). How have society’s and healthcare professional’s views changed in the time during which Marijuana was made legal for medicinal use? Cannabis Sativa, the plant from which marijuana is derived, has had many uses throughout history. Use can be traced back to ancient cultures, when the plant was first grown for the benefit of its strong fibers used to make string, rope, and paper. Throughout history the United States has fought in many wars. Whether the fighting took place in Europe such as WWI or in our own land like the civil war. The one war many people seem to forget is the Korean War. The Korean War also known as the â€Å"forgotten war† was a war between North Korea, South Korea and the US together with the South Koreans to help. The Korean War was fought on sea, land, and in the air over and near the Korean peninsula (Brown, p.2). On June 25, 1950, the North Koreans rumbled across the thirty-eighth parallel. The invasion was successful because the south was not expecting or even prepare for a war. The invasion was so successful that they pushed the south to a tiny defensive area around Pusan. That’s when President Truman steps in real quick to halt the invasion of the North Koreans. Truman ordered American armed forces under General Douglas MacArthur to support South Korea. The Korean War was a clash between Communist forces and Free World (Brown, p.2). On June 25th, 1950 at 4 a.m. the North Korean People’s Army (KPA) attacked across the 38th parallel, implementing a well-developed invasion plan (Lewis p.1). The KPA had a huge number of military men compare to the South Koreans. It had about 135,000 soldiers in 10 divisions, five separate infantry brigades, and one armor brigade with 120 soviet-made-T-34 tanks (Lewis p.1). The Republic of Korea (ROK) was taken by surprise and was not fully equipped with weapons like the KPA (Lewis p.1). So for that matter the ROK could not halt the invasion. But if the South Koreans would have had heavy artillery like the KPA then maybe the KPA’s invasion plan would had been a failure. The United Nations Security Council approved a US sponsored resolution that called fo... ...t (Brown, p.17). On October 7 the UN General Assembly passed a resolution calling for unification of Korea and authorized MacArthur to send his forces into North Korea. The North Korean capital of Pyongyang fell on October 19, and the allied UN troops flooded north effectively unopposed. They pushed the North Korean forces to the Yalu River, which formed the North Korean border with the region of China. The war left marks on the Korean peninsula and the world around it. Even though the Korean War was fairly short, no one knows the exact numbers of deaths. The Importance of Good Writing

It can not be underestimated the power of good writing. I recently read an Article by Anthony Balderrama that talked about just this subject. Whether you are trying to keep a job, get a job or just maintain a job, he stresses the importance of being a good writer without being a detriment to yourself and all around you. With the advent of twitter, text messaging and blogging , he states that many of us have lost our abilities to formulate a great sentence and put it on paper without using slang words or run on sentences. Mr. Balderrama doesn't just single out those of us who may not be world class writer but he also speaks to those with the Shakespearian flare for formality sending warnings such as â€Å"If you treat every correspondence with too much formality, that will be more noticeable than the content. So sometimes â€Å"Hi† is a better way to open a message than â€Å"Salutations. â€Å"†. The article has a few anecdotes of people who tell their stories of how they have received a good job due to their better than normal writing skills. Better still those who have opened up more doors and opportunities for themselves and others with good writing skills. Finally Mr. Balderrama gives us four point in which to live our written life by 1) Proofread, Proofread, Proofread. 2)Pay close attention to your emails they have more value than you know. 3) When it comes to being a good writer be careful of those you correct and how you correct them. 4) Know how to communicate to a multitude of people, not just one genre or group of people.
